Região Vinhateira do Alto Douro
Zona representativa da paisagem que caracteriza a vasta Região Demarcada do Douro, a mais antiga região vitícola regulamentada do mundo. A paisagem cultural do Alto Douro combina a natureza monumental do vale do rio Douro, feito de encostas íngremes e solos acidentados, com a ação ancestral e contínua do Homem, adaptando o espaço às necessidades agrícolas de tipo mediterrâneo . Esta relação íntima entre a atividade humana e a natureza permitiu criar um ecossistema de valor único, onde as características do terreno são aproveitadas de forma exemplar, com a modelação da paisagem em socalcos, preservando-a da erosão e permitindo o cultivo da vinha. A região produz o famoso vinho do Porto. Esta região foi declarada Património da Humanidade em 2001, pela UNESCO.
Representative area of the landscape that characterizes the vast Douro Demarcated Region, the oldest regulated wine-growing region in the world. The cultural landscape of the Alto Douro combines the monumental nature of the Douro river valley, made of steep slopes and rugged soils, with the ancestral and continuous action of Man, adapting the space to Mediterranean-type agricultural needs. This intimate relationship between human activity and nature has created an ecosystem of unique value, where the characteristics of the land are used in an exemplary way, with the modeling of the landscape in terraces, preserving it from erosion and allowing the cultivation of vines. The region produces the famous Port wine. This region was declared a World Heritage Site in 2001 by UNESCO.
